Shaun Dillon

What is the role of a Lord of the Flies Ambassador?
Sam and Shaun, the Lord of the Flies Ambassador's for London are leading the search for our young male cast.  They will be running workshops in schools and with youth groups across London as well as hosting Open Calls in May, June and July.  Once the final cast has been selected, Sam and Shaun will support the young performers in learning the movement material and will help prepare them for the shows in October!

Get to know Shaun........
How did you get in to dance?

I got into dance by copying Michael Jackson and learning from watching his videos when I was about 6 years old. This then led to me teaching myself basic breakdance and hip hop routines. My contemporary dance started after I saw Matthew Bourne's 'Car Man'.

What training have you done?
I started dancing properly very late, when I was about 16, taking on A-level dance and then going on to study dance at the University of Roehampton. With my areas of interest being in contact, release and choreography.

How did you become a Lord of the Flies Ambassador?
To become a LOTF ambassador I had to do an interview and deliver a workshop, focusing a group of students using the theme of Tribal.

What was it like at the Lord of the Flies bootcamp?
LOTF bootcamp was an amazing week of intensive learning during which we learnt the rep for the show and really got to grips with the New Adventures style of delivering workshops. I also got to meet all of the incredibly talented team working on this project, from the ambassadors to the tour directors and Scott the choreographer - it was an amazing week!

If you had to sum up the Lord of the Flies project in three words, what would they be?
Innovative, fresh and exciting.
